Truth Booth and Reconciliation Station V2

48”x48”x84” | pine, cotton, paper, carpet tape, baling straps, marker. (2019)

Version 2 of the Truth Booth and Reconciliation Station was created at Santa Fe Art Institute's Thematic Residency on Truth and Reconcoliation.  Focused on the harm that "whiteness" creates to people of all races, the booth asked audience members to reflect on the questions of racial privilege.  This version departed from the closed prompts in Version 1 and found that such large, open questions seemed to discourage participation, that a verbal pathway to exploring the topic, a fill-in-the-blank, was in fact useful to allowing oneself to understand and be vulnerable.
